Large Planter Boxes
How did it start?
Satu Bumi is a family owned business that commenced manufacturing Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) Balcony Planters, Large Planter Boxes and other products from our factory in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2012. The factory covers over 10,000 square meters (approx. 100,000 square feet) and employs approximately 200 staff.
The founding owners of Satu Bumi, Gary Landers and Harry Grace, both had very successful commercial careers in the Asia/Pacific region before establishing Satu Bumi and were looking for an opportunity to establish a new business with their sons, Robert and Lachlan.
The founders decided to enter the GRC manufacturing industry after recognising a real gap in the supply of quality GRC planter boxes and products to the wholesale and commercial markets in Australia. Although GRC manufacturing technology had been around in these markets for some time, it was clear that very few companies were able to manufacture and reliably supply quality GRC planter boxes and products in commercial volumes on an international level.
What do we do?
Satu Bumi’s strong but lightweight GRC provides a unique long-life quality offering for planter boxes that sets it apart from terracotta, fibre clay, ceramic and resin based products.
Our beautifully made high quality range of lightweight GRC planter boxes and balcony planters are ideal for use in large commercial projects where the following is important:
- Flexibility - GRC is perfectly suited to large planter boxes however we offer a range of existing products along with bespoke product design capabilities.
- Lightweight - GRC is a fantastic alternative to much heavier commercial solutions including Precast Concrete, Block work, Form work.
- Waterproof - GRC has proven to provide excellent moisture permeability resistance. This makes them a practical option where water seepage is undesirable.
